There was an incident in my neighborhood where a 14 year old kid drowned in a friend’s pool and no one could pull him out of the water, even though there were several adults at home. He was 190 pounds.

I used to lifeguard when younger and getting a kid of that weight out of the pool would be relatively easy for one person if someone knows the proper positioning.

Should pool owners be required to take a basic 4-hour lifeguarding course, just like drivers have to take a certain driving course in many states?

I found out very suddenly that he is taking our child to the swimming pool. I couldnt understand why her eyes suddenly start ithcing, she was scare of regular bath, for the past 2 days, coming back home with wet hair, running nose.. Assuming he was taking her to the regular park where they have fontain for kids during the hot weather I said to myself OK, but still asked him to let me know in advance. When I said to him :”I hope you are not taking her to the swimming pool where you have membership”, he answered “Of course I do” and showed me the pictures, I was shocked. We are under pending divorce, separated more than 11 months, his ignorance killing me. dont know what else to do.
little correction: First sorry for my English, both me and my ex are recent immigrants. Second, I know that swimming is healthy for everyone , but swimming classes is different than going to regular pool, and i think as a primary caretaker I have rights to be upset with my ex for not knowing about this .
